How Often Do You Wash Your Hair?
Time for some real talk. How often do you wash your hair?
I recently cut back on washing my hair only two or so days a week and it’s been a total game changer. Since I’m washing and styling it less often, I’ve found myself putting more effort in during those two wash days a week which means day to day I look way more pulled together with styled (and then touched up) hair vs. the air dried look I went for when I was washing it on a daily basis. Additionally, my hair is so much happier without drying it out with too much shampoo and hot water – I swear, it’s never felt healthier!
My latest hair routine has been washing it on Wednesdays and Sundays after getting sweaty while horseback riding. I’ll typically let it air dry overnight to avoid the heat of the blow dryer and then use my BeachWaver curling wand to smooth things out with messy waves in the morning (Aveda’s Damage Remedy is my go to heat protectant and Drybar’s Sheriff hairspray is the best for locking in curls without any crunch or stiff feeling). Throughout the week I’ll do a quick curling wand touch up if needed and refresh my roots with Bastise dry shampoo as needed to help extend the life of my wash (and if you find yourself using a lot of dry shampoo, washing your hair with a clarifying shampoo can really help with build up to get hair squeaky clean).
And that’s it! So easy. It’s been so nice to spend less time dealing with my day every day and I can’t believe it took me this long to realize what a difference fewer washes would make in my beauty routine.
